His selection of Ronso Rages was very small and could only use them as an Overdrive. You lose access to Flee and literally everything inside except the Ogres in the Airship Dock are LV 30. Limit Glove will only work as the first and maybe second attack with Auto-Life as it will kill Quina constantly with counters. Also very strange that this is Blue Magic and not part of the White Magic set. By far the easiest one is by getting the Auto-Life status and killing Quina. Quina learns the spells by using the âEatâ command to eat specific enemies to learn their skills.Deals Wind-based damage to all targets according to the following formula: 55 * (a number between 1 and Quinaâs level and Quinaâs magic stat).Instantly kills any enemy whose level is a multiple of 5.Inflicts the Doom status effect on an single target which will count down from 10 and then instantly kill the enemy. The Eat command can be used on any enemy after their HP drops below 25%.
It is probably the best tool for buffering escapes in the Desert Palace when you don't have Flee available. What really sucks is that in FF9, typically characters' HP (especially with mages) is quite low. And its duration is based off of the characters Spirit stat. And you get Doom extremely late in Ipsen's Castle from the Veteran. Blue Magic in Final Fantasy IX is a rare form of magic that can only be used by Quina. If you were gonna have Quina do damage while being in critical HP, you're likely trying to use Limit Glove, otherwise healing is usually a better option.Eiko and Garnet have air racket weapons that can deal wind damage with full power from the back row, though that's a bit on the weaker side. What's funny is that in speedruns, the most usefulness he gets out of his Overdrive is that he's able to fill up the bar instantly when he learns a new Ronso Rage and then the runner uses Entrust to give that to another character.I rate this an 7 cause it's usable in a lot of situations that most of Quina's other spells wouldn't work in and there's only 1 other option for an earth attack, but the damage is still a bit lackluster. Incredibly strong against Ozma when powered up as Mini status from Curse will be ignored since the damage is fixed. Strago isn't available until the end of World of Balance, then you immediately lose him though a big chunk of World of Ruin. Typically the Auto-Life support ability is much more useful, especially in Speedruns as it doesn't require using a turn and can be used without needing Quina or Amarant. You can only use it a little bit before Quina leaves until Disc 3. Friendly Yan's HP, defenses, and evasion are totally maxed out.
Personally I'm glad you get this instead of the enemy abilty Earthquake, cause Earth Shake looks way cooler. You'll be able to get far more consistent wind damage from Eiko's Fenrir, though that requires equipping the Maiden Prayer and having a bunch of Saphires; and Garnet's Odin, but that requires learning an ability from the Ancient Aroma found in Ipsen's Castle called Odin's Sword, equipping it, and dumping out all the Ore in the inventory.
A big bonus to the status is that a vanished character will never miss their physical attacks besides not being able to be hit by them.
Bad Breath absolutely cripples Meltigemini, Earth Guardian, Red Dragons, and most random encounters to the point that they are no longer threats in any way, except the Yan.There's a very good reason why RTA Speedruns use Quina solely for this 1 spell despite its somewhat long animation. That version costs no MP and is active right away when a fight starts.
