Roger Naylor. :)After parking at the trailhead, we ended up taking the dirt jeep trail instead of the hiking trail by accident. Although not the largest of Sedona’s 7 sinkholes, Devils’ Kitchen is the most active having collapsed many times (1880s, 1989, and 1995).
We share moments and places in the PNW, and how you can experience them too.Because of the large volume of people that explore this trail every year, there is a high chance for soil erosion, trash, and misuse.Within the first mile of the trail, hikers will get to experience the Devil’s Kitchen Sinkhole and the Seven Sacred Pools.After another half mile of trail on level ground, you will reach your second feature of Soldiers Pass hike – The Seven Sacred Pools.This gorgeous Sedona trail has it all. It’s a long descent into shady woodlands of cypress, oak and some ponderosa pines that are far outside their usual environs considering that the elevation here is only about 4,200 feet.If the water is running high, crossing can be difficult and frankly, why bother?

We do not encourage travel at this time due to health concerns.Spend some time wandering around inside! Once you’ve climbed up inside, you’ll see the entire cave - an impressive sight to behold. From there it’s easy going through a virtual tunnel of leafy shade sheltering the stream.The first half of the trail crosses Bear Wallow Wash and climbs an exposed mesa overlooking Sedona.
